President of Beard Development Corporation (BDC) and BDC Funding
John R. Beard founded BDC in 1981 as a diversified real estate investment and mortgage banking company. In 2005, Mr. Beard launched BDC Funding to leverage his non-conforming commercial mortgage business.
For 25 years, Mr. Beard has been involved in all phases of commercial real estate acting as a principal, consultant, broker, developer and lender. His expertise ranges from developing resort oceanfront condominiums, restructuring and performing workouts for banking institutions, structuring 1031 tax-deferred real estate exchanges, and lending over $500 million in real estate financing.
Mr. Beard is a designated member of the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Institute, a worldwide organization with more than 17,000 members. He is currently serving on its Board of Directors. Previously, Mr. Beard served in leadership positions for more 20 years with the CCIM including president of the CCIM Education Foundation, president of the Virginia chapter, and member of the Jay Levine Leadership Development Academy.
Mr. Beard actively supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where he was elected president of the national chapter in 2005. As the top national revenue-generating chapter for the Society, it raises over $13 million dollars a year. In 2001, Mr. Beard was named “Man of the Year” in Washington, DC and “National Man of the Year” for being the national fundraising leader for the society. Mr. Beard is married, has 2 daughters and lives in Washington, DC. |
